Volkswagen proves its presence in the SUV coupe category with Atlas Cross Sport 2020

Volkswagen has unveiled the all-new Atlas Cross Sport 2020 as a shorter, less tall and more elegant version of a regular mid-size SUV.

In terms of size, Cross Sport is shorter (7.1 cm) than the current Atlas or Teramont in the Gulf markets and is 5.8 cm high. However, its wheelbase is identical, allowing a large space inside the car – an area (3,165 liters) of passenger space with (1114 liters) of luggage space. After folding the second row the area is increased to (2,203 liters).
“Building off the success of the Atlas seven-seater midsize SUV, we see an opportunity for a five-seater model that offers even more style and almost as much interior space,” said VW Group of America CEO, Scott Keogh. “We look forward to entering this growing segment with the Atlas Cross Sport, which offers outstanding Volkswagen technology, driver-assist features, style, and value.”

In terms of design, Cross Sport has a more elegant look than the Atlas (Teramont) thanks to its curved rear support. The rear facade also features new lights and a sculpted bumper to give the car more presence on the road. The chrome accents on the underside of the body, the rear facade, and the windows also help.
At the same time, the R-Line edges come with more sculpted bumpers, featuring chrome and piano treatments in black with 21-inch aluminum wheels. In general, the Atlas Cross Sport is definitely a more elegant product than the model on which it was built.

Moving to the interior, there is a new steering wheel, and there are also new technical features like wireless mobile charging.
Buyers who do not mind spending extra money can choose hot rear seats, steering wheel, ventilated front seats, rear sunshades and a 12-speaker Fender Premium audio system.

There are also features connected to the Volkswagen network connected through the mobile app (offered at no additional charge for five years from the date of purchase). Owners can remotely start and stop the engine, lock and unlock doors remotely, remotely dial, flashlights, find the last location, check vehicle status – fuel level, mileage, door, and window condition. In addition, the Car-Net hotspot allows passengers to connect to the Internet up to four devices simultaneously, using 4G LTE speeds.

Moving to the driver assistance systems, the following two new systems are: Traffic Congestion (TJA) and the previous dynamic road signal display that uses the front camera and front radar sensor to keep the next distance from the vehicle ahead, and works in conjunction with Adaptive Cruise Control and Exit System About the track. As for the latter, it can display speed limits, no traffic zones, school zones, etc.

Finally, the engine set. There are two types of gasoline engines, the four-cylinder TSI turbocharged 276 hp, and 235 hp. Both works with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and are also available with 4 Motion all-wheel drive, and a six-cylinder V6 engine will also be available.
