De Tomaso is one of the most famous Italian brands in the sports car industry.
The new De Tomaso P72 was unveiled during the Goodwood Speed Festival, which is held at this time of year in southern England.
The car comes with a design that clearly expresses racing cars in the 1960s, with the company saying it was designed as a “classic of the times”.

“In a similar way, Pantera invented a new class when it first appeared in 1970, the P72 will create its new standard,” said Ryan Pires, general manager of De Tommaso. “We have created a machine of the modern age to show reverence for an integral part of history and a car of its origins”
The famous Italian brand is re-launched by the same people who were behind Apollo Automobili, Ideal Team Ventures (ITV), which acquired De Tomaso’s rights in 2014.
The new De Tomaso P72 was officially inspired by the unprecedented P70 racing car model, a collaboration between Alejandro de Tomaso and Carroll Shelby dating back to 1964.
If you feel enchanted by the endless curves of the chassis and the teardrop glasshouse, wait until you take a peek inside; the De Tomaso P72 looks like jewelry, with polished brass details and diamond inscriptions in everything from round analog scales, Even the center of the steering wheel, and the gear arm in the manual transmission with the open connector.
The company prefers to keep all technical details confidential at the moment. But we know that P72 depends on the same monolithic structure used in Apollo IE.
Considering that Apollo IE, uses the same V12 natural breathing engine as Ferrari, can the P72 be fitted with the same engine? Or is it possible to get the V8 engine as the history of De Tomaso was beginning with eight-cylinder American engines?
Only 72 copies of De Tomaso 72 will be built, and prices will start at $ 845,000. The company has already started receiving orders from around the world.
